Classic Rhythm 7.30pm Friday 7th September
Flautist Helen O'Connell, keyboard player Adrian Sutcliffe and flamboyant percussionist Chris Brannick, from the internationally acclaimed percussion group Ensemble Bash, provide the Festival with a spectacular musical and visual opening. They have met with great success,
here and abroad, with their skilful arrangements of classical favourites and lighter pieces.

Becky Smith, Arlene Macfarlane, Helen Vollam and Lorna McDonald are four young lady
trombonists, whose appearances in the United States, have earned them international
recognition, leading to offers of recitals all over the world. As well as playing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, they have played on BBC and ITV television, Individually they perform in orchestras such as the Hallé and BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Wissam Boustany 7.30pm Saturday 8th September
Describing this outstanding flautist, who has toured the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and China, the Times noted " …a rare exuberance of musical personality and determination to transcend the instrument's expressive limitations." The Daily Telegraph said that in terms of
expressive power Wissam "defies the bounds imposed by his chosen instrument."

Concert Royal 3.00pm Sunday 9th September
Flautist Peter Harrison, cellist Rachel Gray, soprano Margarette Ashton and harpsichord
player John Treherne MBE, have for over thirty years re-created the sound world of the 18th Century, by research, study and performance on historical instruments. Concert Royal has
given hundreds of recitals in Britain, including three London South Bank concerts,
Europe, North and South America.

Described by the Times as "simply brilliant", Justin Pearson, Principal Cellist and Artistic Director of the National Symphony Orchestra, has been the chosen solo cellist for Andrew Lloyd Webber for over 20 years. He can be heard playing on many film and television soundtracks, ranging from Gladiator to Harry Potter. He is joined by Kay Bywater, from the Michael Nyman Band, playing flute and saxophone, and Marcus Tilt, keyboard player from
the Royal National Theatre production of South Pacific.
